Today, I tried using the context clues strategy to learn new vocabulary. I read a short text and tried to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words by looking at the sentences around them.
This strategy worked well for me because I didn’t need to look up every word in the dictionary. For example, I learned the word “preserve,” which means to protect or keep something safe. I also learned the word “ancestors,” which refers to people in our family who lived before us.
I think this strategy is helpful because it makes reading faster and helps me understand words in real situations. I will continue using this strategy to improve my vocabulary.
