Strategy I Tried: Using Context Clues

Today I focused on building vocabulary by paying close attention to context clues while reading. Whenever I encountered an unfamiliar word, I paused to see if the surrounding sentences gave hints about its meaning. For example, I came across the word meticulous in a passage describing a doctor’s careful attention to detail. From the context, I understood it meant “very precise and thorough.”

Did it work? Yes—it helped me figure out meanings without immediately turning to a dictionary. It also made me more engaged with the text, since I was actively searching for clues.
