Today I decided to try the “word map” strategy to learn new vocabulary. I chose three new words I found while reading an article, and I created a small map for each one: definition, synonyms, an example sentence, and a personal connection.
This strategy actually worked very well for me. Writing the words in a visual way helped me remember them more easily, and creating a personal example made the meaning clearer.
The new words I learned today were:
- “reliable”
– someone or something you can trust - “improve”
– to make something better - “challenge”
– something difficult that requires effort
I think I will keep using this method because it helps me organize new vocabulary and remember it longer.
