I would choose to be fluent in all languages. While communicating with animals would be fascinating, the potential for global understanding and collaboration offered by linguistic fluency is far-reaching and impactful.  The ability to bridge cultural divides, access diverse perspectives, and facilitate international cooperation in fields like science, diplomacy, and humanitarian aid would be transformative.  Research consistently demonstrates the correlation between language learning and cognitive benefits, including enhanced problem-solving skills and improved memory.  Ultimately, the ability to understand and be understood across all human cultures presents a greater opportunity for positive global change than communicating with animals, however intriguing that might be.
