Instructions: For this discussion, look at Unit 1 in the ESL001 course and choose one or two sentences from any lesson. Then, identify the tense, aspect, and mood of the main verb(s) used in that sentence.

These are the two sentences that I have chosen from the previous course:

1. I missed the bus because I woke up late.

2. The teacher will answer the question as soon as you ask it.

Now, let me start my discussion.

Number one example, I missed the bus because I woke up late.

This sentence is an example of Past Perfect because she "missed" the bus and "woke" up late which is an example of action that has been done in the past. So the tense is Past and the aspect is Present. Next, the mood of the sentence is indicative because it tells the reader a factual statement. She missed the bus and which is a fact because the evidence or proof is that she woke up late therefore she missed the bus.

Now, let's move on to the second example, The teacher will answer the question as soon as you ask it.

The sentence is an example of Future Perfect because of the action word "will answer" which will happen in the future. Therefore, the tense is Future and the aspect is Present. As for the mood, it screams indicative as it tells a factual event that will happen  "will answer the question as soon as you ask it" which the teachers commonly do once a student ask.
