Building vocabulary

While reading an article, I came across several unfamiliar words, and instead of immediately looking them up, I used the surrounding sentences to guess their meanings. Afterward, I checked the dictionary to see if I was correct.

Did it work?
Yes, it worked really well! It made reading more engaging and helped me feel more confident in figuring out words on my own.

New Words I Learned:

  • Ephemeral – lasting for a very short time

  • Ubiquitous – present or found everywhere

  • Ambivalent – having mixed feelings or contradictory ideas about something

Reflection:
Using context clues helped me actively engage with the material, and I feel like I’ll remember the meanings better since I figured them out myself first. I’ll definitely keep using this strategy!
