ELS002 present tense forum:


1. My sister has two children, so she is busy with them in the mornings. 

2. I leave for work at 7:00am. 

3. My sister never goes straight to work.


Sentence 1:

•The nouns used as subjects are ‘sister and children’. 

•The pronouns used to replace the nouns are: ‘she’ replaces sister and ‘them’ replaces children

•Subject-verb agreement: ‘Sister has’ is correct. ‘She is’ is correct

• Pronoun-antecedent agreement: ‘she’ correctly refers to ‘sister’ (singular feminine),  ‘them’ correctly refers to ‘children’ (plural).


Sentence 2:

• Noun/pronoun subject: I (pronoun)

• Subject-verb agreement: ‘I leave’ is correct


Sentence 3:

• The noun subject is sister. There are no pronouns in this sentence.

• Subject-verb agreement: ‘sister goes’ is correct.
