Today, I tried using the context clues strategy to build my vocabulary. I read an article and tried to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words based on the sentences around them before checking a dictionary.
One of the new words I learned was "resilient." From the sentence, “She remained resilient despite the many challenges,” I understood that it meant strong or able to recover. Another word was “thrive,” which I guessed meant to grow or succeed, especially in a good environment.
This strategy really worked for me because it helped me become more confident in understanding words without immediately looking them up. I’ll continue using it in future reading activities!
How about you? What strategy worked for you?
