One sentence I found helpful from the Parts of Speech resources was:

"Adjectives describe or modify nouns and pronouns."

From this sentence, I learned how adjectives function in more detail. I always knew adjectives describe something, but I didn’t fully realize they also apply to pronouns.

Parts of Speech in this sentence:

  • Adjectives – noun (subject of the sentence)
  • describe, modify – verbs (what adjectives do)
  • nouns, pronouns – nouns (objects that adjectives modify)

Another useful sentence was:

"Conjunctions join words, phrases, or clauses together."

It helped clarify how versatile conjunctions are — not only joining words but also entire phrases and clauses.

Parts of Speech in this sentence:

  • Conjunctions – noun (subject)
  • join – verb (main action)
  • words, phrases, clauses – nouns (objects being joined)
  • together – adverb (modifies the verb join)
