An adverb describes or modifes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
- Adverbs of manner: How something is done:
Quickly, slowly, carrefully, beautifully, quietly, well (irregular).
Example: She walks slowly.
- Adverbs of time: When something is done.
Now, yesterday, today, soon, later, always, never.
Example: He will call her later
- Adverbs of Place: Where something is done.
Here, there, everywhere, outside, upstairs, inside.
Example: Come here.
- Adverbs of Degree: Intensity of something (we answer "how much? / to what extent?)
Very, too, almost, quite, enough, extremely.
Example: He is very happy.
- Adverbs of Frequency: How often something is done.
Always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never.
Example: She always wakes up early.
