From the Parts of Speech lesson, I learned that words can change their function depending on how they are used in a sentence. This helped me better understand why identifying parts of speech depends on context, not only on the word itself.

Sentences I found important:

  1. “A word’s part of speech is determined by its role in a sentence.”

  2. “The same word can function as different parts of speech in different contexts.”

Examples of parts of speech from these sentences:

  • Nouns: word, part, speech, role, sentence, context

  • Verbs: is determined, can function

  • Adjectives: same, different

  • Prepositions: in, by

  • Articles: a, the

  • Pronouns: its

  • Conjunctions: as

Parts of speech includes; noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, adjectives, preposition, conjuctions and interjections.

I learnt that conjuctions connect sentences together while interjections express feelings e.g wow!
