Parts of Speech
Parts of speech classify words by their function in a sentence.

Noun – names a person, place, thing, or idea
Examples: boy, city, book, honesty -
Pronoun – replaces a noun
Examples: I, you, he, she, it, they -
Verb – shows action or state of being
Examples: run, eat, is, are, think -
Adjective – describes a noun or pronoun
Examples: tall, red, honest -
Adverb – describes a verb, adjective, or another adverb
Examples: quickly, very, well -
Preposition – shows the relationship between a noun/pronoun and other words
Examples: in, on, at, under -
Conjunction – joins words, phrases, or clauses
Examples: and, but, or, because -
Interjection – expresses sudden feeling or emotion
Examples: oh!, wow!, alas!
