Today I tried the word map strategy to build my vocabulary. I picked the word resilient from an article I was reading. I wrote the word in the center of a page, then added branches for its definition, synonyms (like strong, tough, adaptable), antonyms (fragile, weak), and a few example sentences.
This strategy worked well for me because it helped me see connections between words instead of just memorizing a definition. I also learned related words such as tenacious and durable, which I hadn’t used much before.
Overall, I found the word map strategy engaging and useful. I plan to keep using it for new words I encounter in my readings.
