Hi everyone,

I’ve just started Unit 1, and the lesson on the eight parts of speech really clarified how words function together to create meaning. Here are a few sentences from the resources that stood out to me:

  • Understanding parts of speech is essential for determining the correct definition of a word when using the dictionary.

  • Proper nouns should always be capitalized.

  • Parts of Speech Identification:Using the sentence: "Wow! She quickly wrote a beautiful poem about friendship."

  • Wow! (Interjection) – Shows sudden emotion.

  • She (Pronoun) – Replaces a specific person's name.

  • quickly (Adverb) – Tells us how she wrote (modifies the verb).

  • wrote (Verb) – Shows the action.

  • beautiful (Adjective) – Describes the noun "poem."

  • poem (Noun) – Names a thing.

  • about (Preposition) – Shows the relationship between the poem and friendship.

I’m looking forward to hearing which parts of speech you all found most interesting!
