Europe's Scientific Revolution had a tremendous socio-political impact. It loosened the hold of the Catholic Church and prompted individuals to reexamine all aspects of their lives – from the natural, scientific, and cultural to the political. The Enlightenment which followed represented a departure from the status quo.
