I tend to just read the first part of the text when it is long, so when I've take the test on the verb section, I don't really know what word I still missed. So, I had to go back to the lesson again and find the meaning of verb, and that's when I realize that verb is not just an action but also a state of being. Moral of the story- just read the whole damn definition and understand it carefully to learn what the word really is defined.
