Vocabulary Strategy Reflection

Today, I decided to try the "Learn One New Word a Day" strategy. I signed up for the Merriam-Webster Word of the Day service to help me easily incorporate it into my daily routine. The word I learned today was "serendipity," which means the occurrence of events by chance, happily or beneficially.

This strategy was helpful because it gave me a clear focus for the day—just one new word to understand. I wrote down the definition, created a sentence using it, and even tried to use it in conversation with my kids, which helped me remember it better.

For example, I said, "It was pure serendipity that I found an amazing hiking trail today that I didn't even plan to visit!" Focusing on just one word a day is manageable and makes it easy to incorporate new vocabulary into my life without feeling overwhelmed.

Overall, this strategy worked well, and I think I'll remember the word because I actively used it. I'm excited to see which word comes up tomorrow!
