The Peer-to-Peer Model

This section introduces the peer-to-peer model, which will be discussed further.

The peer-to-peer (P2P) model has emerged as an alternative network architecture in the last decade. Unlike the traditional client-server model, where hosts are either servers or clients, in the P2P model, all hosts act as both servers and clients simultaneously, performing both roles. P2P architecture has been employed for various network applications, including Internet telephony, file sharing, and Internet-wide file systems.
