Figure 9.10 shows the volcanoes in Indonesia, including Krakatau and Tambora. It also shows Mount Merapi on the island of Java, which is one of the world's most active volcanoes and is erupting frequently. Indonesia, an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands and islets, has nearly 130 active volcanoes.
