One way to communicate the threat of global sea level rise is to envision the impact on the world's landmasses should Antarctica's major ice sheets melt. Our concern tends to focus on urban areas in other regions, but parts of Oceania are severely threatened. The details in Figure 10.24 do not show all of the Pacific Islands, but we can see a noticeable change if Antarctica thaws completely.
